Virtual Computer

Reflecting on discussions at school day it was worthwhile to work this hot day in July. I am in the planning stages of Moodle usage in our high school. Discussions among colleagues included terms that sounded futuristic and were well beyond my scope of computer knowledge. After this 15 minute discussion of future possibilities we realized the future was very near. I felt that I had no part of building this network of computers that were keyboards and screens with apps stored on a virtual computer. Then as they came back to reality they focused on my Moodle inquiry. The process of downloading Moodle involved the future possibilities. Now we are planning a small scale virtual computer to run Moodle at no additional cost to the district. I am amazed.

My Favorite Vacation Spot

The Sea Mist Resort is my favorite vacation spot because it is family friendly. You have the ocean and the largest resort water park in one location. It is truly family friendly with several pools and jacuzzis. They also own Family Kingdom Amusement Park and Water park. A small extra cost gives your family unlimited passes to both of these during your stay.

Preparing for Teacher Professional Development.

We are just diving into the planning of teacher professional development for the next school year. This is not an easy task because of the diversity of the faculty. In order to embrace their unique needs, separate plans need to be implemented. Reading Alan Graham's article about how to get people using Web 2.0 tools is a good first step.

Building an Airplane in the Sky

This video was used by the PA Department of Education as a comparison to the journey of Classroom for the Future districts. It really seems to fit. This has been a tough year as we continue to build our airplane in the sky.

A Baby and His Binkie

My son is two and his doctor said that he needs to lose the binky. We have had a rough time with many sleepless nights. He seems to be clinging to his blankie even more. Is it worth it? Should I be pushing him to stop using his binkie? Is it really that bad? I don't know....

Bacteria under pressure

Sandra Porter wrote an interesting piece on bacteria and selective pressure.
